https://bikepacking.com/news/alexandera-houchin-2023-tour-divide-singlespeed-record/ Alexandera rode a titanium Chumba Yaupon set up with a 34 x 17t gear combination this year. For those crunching numbers, that gearing added about three gear inches to her 36 x 19t 2019 setup (58.38 vs. 55.31). She mentioned suffering on this stout gear early on in the race as she tackled the steep sections in Montana and Wyoming. However, she settled into it and eventually passed her record pace and stayed ahead of it for the second half of the race.
https://bikepacking.com/news/kyle-peterson-2023-tour-divide-singlespeed/ Kyle rode through the night and came within three hours of the fastest singlespeed time from last year’s event. That was from Andrew Strempke, who happened to be running the same 32 x 16T gearing that Kyle had on his Salsa Ti Timberjack. If you want to learn more about Kyle’s rig, you can find it in the roundup here. Congrats, Kyle!
